We had not been out to the Charlotte Warriors football fields until last week. The press box was destroyed in Hurricane Charley more than 22 years ago. The county did not replace it and a shipping container was placed between the fields with a ladder for the announcers to climb up and view and announce the game. Not a good situation and they did it that way until Hurricane Ian rolled the shipping container multiple times over and over until it was located in the middle of the practice field. In 2021 the Leadership Charlotte Class volunteered to raise funds and build a new press box. They were delayed by COVID and the storms. We stepped in, along with others, financially, to help them raise enough money to complete the project. It was a financial commitment to the youth in our community to have a field and facility that would build pride in the program. I’m proud to see our firm’s recognition on the new press box. It’s beautiful and functional. Charlotte Warrior Pride. I’m beaming from ear to ear.

It’s all about the grandkids some days!! I’m so proud of these two and want to share the first day picture of Samara’s junior year and Mitchell’s sophomore year (see Garrett’s picture), and football and cheer. We are thankful to be so involved in their lives and activities.

Mitchell played a great game! Charlotte Tarpons vs. North Port, 42-6. It's a WIN!!

Obligatory first day of school pictures. This one is a milestone: first year of public school that we didn’t drive them to the first day. In the good old days of homeschool, it was just another day in the living room in PJs starting at about 9am, but nooooo, the kids needed to be with friends, so now they’re out the door at 6:40am. Mitchell has since expressed regret for this decision—he has a lot of trouble getting up early. But the bell can’t be unrung.
Samara drives them in the blue Tesla with aftermarket pink trim. Mitchell’s electric scooter fits in the trunk, and he rides it from morning football/weightlifting practice at Charlotte High School to classes at Florida Southwestern Collegiate High School (sounds fancy, right?) every morning.
So, if you get cut off in traffic near CHS by a broccoli-haired kid on a scooter, well, sorry. Truly.
Also, let us know if he’s not wearing his helmet! It takes a village.

It has been a beautiful summer here in Punta Gorda. Now don’t get me wrong. It has been HOT. But the heat hasn’t stopped us from enjoying boat days and exploring our Charlotte Harbor. We had a nice run down to Pine Island sound to catch some bait fish, and then within seconds of throwing the line in we were catching trout. We had some keepers, but most were just fun to catch and release, including some snapper, this snook, a jack, and a juvenile tarpon.

Jennifer’s house is so close to being completed! We are almost to the 1 year mark of when we flooded from Hurricane Helene and Milton.

This school year is a big one! Gabby is entering her last year of middle school and her last year at Charlotte Prep. She has been a Charlotte Prep student since she was 4 years old and this last year is the beginning of the end of a big chapter in her life.
Riley successfully moved into her dorm room on the Knoxville campus of University of Tennessee. She has a cute set up. Much better than what I had back in my college dorm days. She may be over 600 miles away, but she still thought of me long enough to snap a first day of class picture. I am convinced that a mom was behind making sure students had a nice photo-op spot for the first day of classes.
